Where and how to apply
- Submit the request on the federal online identity-document application, one request per person.
- Once the request has been reviewed you receive an email inviting you to record your biometric data (fingerprints and facial image) in person.
- All consular services for the whole of Vietnam (passports, identity cards, visas, civil status, legalisations) are provided only by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Ho Chi Minh City. The Embassy in Hanoi does not provide them.
- The processing centre is normally the Swiss representation where you are registered. Swiss citizens living abroad must register in the register of the Swiss abroad.
- Under "Remarks" give your preferred dates for the appointment; name another processing centre (another Swiss representation or a cantonal passport office) if you prefer to record your data elsewhere.
- After your personal data has been verified the appointment is usually confirmed within a week, with a list of documents to bring and the fee.
